Yes the other loan officer is right. Credit is the most important part to a loan. You either have the score or you don't. Sounds like you are trying to fix it and that's great. Until a loan officer can pull a score that qualifies you for a loan there isn't much any loan officer can do. I wouldn't issue a pre-approval letter without an approvable score. Hello, you will need to wait until your credit scores actually go up. At this point, you can get qualified based on these new scores. Anything before this time is premature.
After some time has passed, contact your Loan Officer and have him pull a report for you. From there this Loan Officer can explain your report and give his/her best advice on how to move forward & when to pull your report again for evaluation.
